Dead Sea

The lowest point on earth. 1,373 ft. below sea level.

50 miles from north to south and reaches an average width of 10 miles.
Completely landlocked and it gets saltier with increasing depth.

the seawater comprises to about ten times the salinity of the oceans.

Salt precipitates out and piles up on the bottom of the sea
300 feet down.

No seaweed or plants of any kind in or around the water.
There are no fish or any kind of creatures living in or near the water.
The shores of the Sea is white, by crystals of salt covering.

Dead Sea

The lake was not known as the Dead Sea until the second century A.D.

Old Testament refers to it as :
the Salt Sea {Gen 14:3; Josh 3:16}
the Sea of Arabah {Deut 3:17}
the Eastern Sea {Ezek 47:18; Joel 2:20}
and the Sea {Ezek 47:1-11}
